Beginning today, I am dedicating 8:00 - 8:30 of every show to Boston-based bands exclusively. Please pass along any suggestions! Here are the Beantown soundz from today's show:

Cambridge-based Banditas make brazen Americana goodness laden with rich harmonies and raw grrrl power. I can't get enough of these ladies.

Quilt is a trio of Museum School graduates whose otherworldly psych-folk evokes the likes of Jefferson Airplane and the Mamas & the Papas. The intoxicating "Penobska Oakwalk" is one of my favorites from their self-titled album released last year.

While the New England Conservatory-trained Cuddle Magic has since dispersed to Brooklyn and Philadelphia, they still play in the area often (specifically at Cambridge folk haven Club Passim). They exhibit tight control over their wide-ranging instrumentation and complex rhythms to remarkable effect.
